Welcome !

The Orienteering Club of Mulhouse (COM) is glad and proud of welcoming you in Alsace for the second edition of the event "Easter in Alsace" which will be held between April 7th and 9th 2007.

Technical details

Races

The first stage (middle distance) will be held in the south of Mulhouse, on a hilly and fast terrain. The presence of many contour and vegetation details will force you to read well the map in order to avoid the traps of this area.

The last two stages will take place very close to the competition center in Uffholtz ( 20km West of Mulhouse). The terrain is typical of the lower parts of the Vosges Mountains, with many contours and rocky features. The area is quite technically relevant because of the important quantity of holes and other features resulting of the battles of WW1. The forest is nevertheless clean and fast. The lower part of the area is a plateau with little vineyards.

The races of April 7th and 8th 2007 will count for the French national ranking. The last stage on Monday, April 9th will be a chasing start race using the provisional ranking resulting of the addition of the results of the two first stages. The 3 races will be 3 selection races for the class M16, M18, W16, W18, so on day 3 there will be a classic start for these four classes instead of the chasing start as the other ones.

Maps

All the areas will be mapped in 2007 (updates and extensions), and in conformity with the IOF mapping rules. The maps' scales will be 1/10 000 with equidistance 5m.

It's possible to buy the former maps of the areas used next year in asking here :

+ sending fees.

"Le Grand Canon-Altenberg" is a part of the map used for the first stage.
"Les Sources Uffholtz-Wattwiller" et "Egelbach" are two parts of the area used for the second and third stages.

Punching system

On all the competition courses, the SportIdent punching system will be used. The SI-card rental will be available at the cost of 2 € per day or 4 € for the whole 3 days.
