:: Program and races' location

photo aérienne de Lauw

The event centre will be located in Lauw, near Masevaux in southern Alsace.

A ranking will be established after each of the 3 days as well as an overall ranking after the 3 days. The start of the third day's race will be a chasing start dependent on the ranking after the first two days.
Moreover a prologue will take place on Friday 22nd April. This prologue won't however be included in any ranking but is a nice opportunity to run in the Open-air museum of Alsace, which consists in a traditional village.

:: Terrains and maps

All our maps follow the IOF guidelines and standards : ISSOM for the prologue's map and ISOM for the 3 days'. All the maps are going to be drawn during the winter 2010-2011 in order to ensure optimal quality and precision.

Prologue : The prologue will take place in the "Écomusée d'Alsace" (Open-air museum of Alsace). The terrain consists mostly of a traditional alsatian village. This area has never been mapped for orienteering so far !

Days 1 and 2 : The area is located north of Lauw, where the event centre is going to be, and 20km west of Mulhouse. This area has also never been used for orienteering. The terrain is mostly a wood with hills and valleys. You can have a glance at the following map extracts from a map a few kilometers away and with similar characteristics :

Day 3 : The third day will take place in Tannenwald, south-west of Mulhouse. The area has already been mapped many times. It is a wooden terrain with small hills and many vegetation and contour features. Following are two extracts from the most recent map (winter 2003-2004) :
